Global Sound Movement: Creative Influence of Southern China

Where: PR1 Gallery (Victoria Building)
When: Starting Tuesday 13th from 9am daily (weekdays only)

EXHIBITION RUNS UNTIL THURSDAY 22ND NOVEMBER

The Global Sound Movement continue to innovate new ways of preserving musical cultures from around the world, making them accessible to a wider audience. This exhibition details the unique collaboration between the Global Sound Movement and Fashion Design students at UCLan. Taking influence from traditional fashion design and musical customs throughout the Yunnan and Hebei provinces, new garments were designed and music composed. All of these outcomes were presented at a catwalk fashion show in Beijing where the garments were displayed to a soundtrack recorded and composed by members of the GSM.

This event is produced in association with the UCLan Confucius Institute. The UCLan Confucius Institute launched in 2008 and is a partnership between UCLan, Beijing International Studies University, and Hanban. Since its launch, UCLan CI has focused on activities that broaden the cultural flavour and landscape of Preston and the larger Lancashire community, by staging cultural and educational events and activities in Preston and other surrounding towns, local libraries and museums, schools and other such places.
