Candy Guard’s Storytelling Masterclass
Candy grew up in Hammersmith in West London. After studying Fine Art at Newcastle, and Film at St Martins, she established a reputation for comic observation and witty dialogue with 13 animated shorts for Channel 4, the BBC and MTV. Always concerning feisty yet wobbly female protagonists, they include the award-winning ‘Alternative Fringe’ about a disastrous trip to the hairdressers and ‘Fatty Issues’ about a one day diet.
Alongside a highly successful strip in the Observer magazine, she then created the cult animated sitcom, Pond Life, introducing the world to the original ladette, Dolly Pond. She wrote, designed and directed 20 episodes and the series won numerous awards and both critical and popular acclaim.
Her first illustrated novel ‘Just a Little Disco on an Open-Top Bus’ was published by Penguin in 2006. Currently, she is am working on a series of books for Macmillan about Jelly, a 12-year-old girl and a graphic novel about an incompatible couple ‘I’m Not OK, You’re Not OK.’
David Bunting’s Storyboard Masterclass
David trained in feature film storyboarding at Aardman Animations under the tuition of Frank Gladstone (Disney Feature Animation, DreamWorks Animation SKG) in 2008, followed by the chance to storyboard on Shaun the Sheep.
Recent storyboard credits include Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed!, Bob the Builder, Chuggington and CITV/Netflix upcoming series, Robozuna. As well as drawing classical 2D boards, he has extensive CG storyboarding experience which enables him to plan production ready shots with a director as a digital cinematographer.
Jamie Badminton: Animation Producer
Karrot Animation co-founder, celebrating 10 years as Creative Director of the London-based studio this year. Producer of the BAFTA-Winning ‘Sarah & Duck’ for CBeebies (120 episodes to date).
Jamie is an Emmy-winning producer of ‘The Snowy Day’, for Amazon Studios, as well as being nominated for ‘Outstanding Direction in Preschool Animation’ for the same TV special.
He has also served as Lead Development Producer for Karrot’s recent collaborative projects for The Jim Henson Company, Fremantle, Leo Burnett and Nickelodeon.
Timon Dowdeswell’s Stop-Frame Workshop
Timon has been animating and directing stop-motion projects for the past twenty-eight years. He animated on well-known series and films such as Shaun the Sheep, Timmy Time, TwirlyWoos, Scream Street, The Clangers, Rastamouse, Creature Comforts USA; and on feature films, Frankenweenie, Fantastic Mr Fox, Chuck Steel ‘Night of the Trampires’. Timon Animated on commercials for brands like DFS, Myer Department Stores, Hotels.com, Google Chrome, Innocent and Sony PSP to name a few.
Timon also worked as a Director on Koala Brothers (BBC), Director of Animation for Fireman Sam – Series 5 (BBC), Animation Director for The Little People (Egmont/Imagination) and he supervised the animation on Crapston Villas Series 2 for Spitting Image (Channel 4).
At present, Timon is freelancing on stop-motion commercials, TV Series, short films and feature films as well as retraining in CGI Animation.
